Can the newer style Montero sport mirror w/compass be installed on an older 97 sport? can I do it myself??

 

It would depend on where the compass mechanism is. If it's in the mirror then it should be doable. You will probably have to run power to the mirror and use an appropriate plug or rig a connection there. How much does a new mirror cost? May be cheaper to buy a GPS like an Etrex, a car mount and power cables. Then find someone with the software for your localle and bribe them to give you a copy or go buy them for yourself. Would be way cooler than an inaccurate mirror compass.
