Default Spare tire hoist

Hi all!

I just purchased a 2000 Montero Sport that did not come with a spare tire. I'm assuming these came with a full size spare considering the amount of room underneath - is this correct? Also, the spare tire hoist is broken and I want to replace it. Does anyone know of a good place to order a new one.

Thanks.

Thanks, Phenoyz. This is very helpful. Does it take a full sized spare?

Yes, a full size spare will fit in there.

OK, get this. I bought a 2000 montero sport xls about a year ago and it had a spare underneath the back. I know this because I checked the tread on it before I bought the truck. Unfortunately I didn't check the hoist. Couple weeks later, after checking out a couple old logging roads, I notice a bit of orange strap hanging out under my rear bumper. I look under there and there's no spare and the 'hoist' hanging down was a ratcheting cargo strap. I'm not happy with the previous owner. There's a place where a real hoist goes though, and I can't understand why anyone would buy a new suv without that hoist. And a hitch receiver for that matter. Oh well, other than a few things I need to get for it I love my mitsubishi.
