Hi, my spare tire carrier on my montero sport 2000 went bad and i purchased a new one but I have no idea how to get to the bolts to remove the old one and install the new one....anyone done this before? Could you help me out? Thanks... great forum. Max

 

I'm doing that right now on my 02 Montero Sport. There are three 12mm bolts on the top of the rear cross member. Hard to get to but they are there. Use an open end wrench and you can get to them. Remove them and that's it. When trying to install the new one I used some duck tape to hold it up in place as I put the bolts back in.
