Default tranny swap

Hi, I have a 1990 Mitsubishi montero long wheel base. I would like to swap the 5 speed manule trans. for a automatic trans. So my question is, would a auto trans. from a 1987 montero with 4 cylinder bolt on to my 3.0 v6? Thanks for any help.

For discussions regarding older 1st Generation Montero/Raiders- i'd suggest you go to http://www.4x4wire.com/mitsubishi/. This guys have done it all. Someone there will be able to give you a more definite answer of what you might need to do and what your options are.
