Default Trying to pass smog check

I have a 2001 Montero XLS with 343k original miles. Had not been driven for four years but recently made needed repairs and seems to be running fine. The problem is passing the smog check. I was told I needed to drive it about a hundred miles to reset the on board computer so the emissions analyzer could read it and determine if the vehicle passed or not. Well, I’ve driven it 250 miles and the catalytic converter still can’t be read. I’m told there are three catalytic converters on the vehicle but, the technicians are unable to tell me which one, if any, need to be replaced. Meanwhile, I can’t get my new tags until it passes the smog check. Any ideas? Thanks.
