I would like to purchase a bike rack for my 97 Montero. What kind will fit it? Is there a way to make it go through the hitch setup?Any help is greatly appreciated?

How many bikes are you looking at mounting?

I got my self a spare tire rack that holds 2 bikes, from Hollywood racks. I also have a universal roof rack from Thule - holds 1 bike.

 

Either Thule or Yakima are nice racks.

Also consider a spare tire mount (rack mounts to a plate that placed behind your spare). It's smaller and easier to remove (because it's lighter) than a hitch mount IMHO. I have one from the Sport Rack (http://www.sportrack.com) but I'm sure Thule or Yakima probably also make similar racks.

Also, if your near the sport rack they also offer a variety of options and are really nice to work with.
