i just wanted to share my expirience with this problem i had.
on my dashboard where lights are display for P R N D gears P , R , and N did light up but when i switched it to D light went off, and also sport shift didn't work and never displayed number of gear
after months of searching i finaly found where the problem was. on other forums i found out that it could be a problem with your gear position lever, or ingibitor switch , which is mounted right on transmission case. But in my case it was 3 little wires , located right under the shifter, (red , black and green). they broke off of little switch that was attached to shifter, thats why it never senced that i was putting it into D or sport shift. You have to take whole console off in order to get to this wires.
