Transmission Fluid Level

Transmission Fluid Level
I just changed my fluid on the Outlander 2007 and noticed that the level without the engine running is above 'H'. I know it says to only test with the engine running but I'm afraid to start the engine since it says it needs to be perfectly on the mark. Can someone measure there transmission fluid for a cold engine with starting it and let me know where it is at.

Re: Transmission Fluid Level
Start the car and run the engine for a few minutes without driving the car. Put the gear in R, N, D then back to N, R then Park leaving them for about 1-2 seconds each time you change. Do not drive... Repeat this process if you wish 1 or 2 more times then turn engine off. Make sure the key is in the lock position. Check your fluid level again. If it is still too High, then you have to drain until it is at the correct level.

you need to check the level "hot" which means you have to drive it. ( 5 miles )
how much did you drain out.... how much did you put back in ?
if they are close to the same amount you will be o.k. to drive.
when i did my change i put in a little less than i drained out......
.....then brought it up to correct level by checking / adding a couple of times.
the manual will show you the correct level you should see on the dip-stick.

I drained out about 4.5 quarts. Then put in about 4 quarts and pumped that out and then put in 4.5 quarts. I was nervous that when the engine is cold and not started the level is REALLY high. But when I start it and go through the gears it is really hard to see the level. I'm assuming this is because the fluid is new.

"cold" , running in park you need to see the red fluid on the stick.
the real check is the hot ( after driving ) check.that i described.
the drain method is : first pump out through cooler line. then drain pan .
then add fluid and run again.
how much fluid is in the "drained" container you have.
you may have gotten too much out during your flush.
you may need to get some more J2 and bring level up on the stick until you can at least see a little on the dip-stick
