Default 07 Outlander Bluetooth

I just bought the 07 outlander XLS with handsfree bluetooth. The previous owner has a security code and I can't get past it. I talked to the Mitsubishi support and they told me to activate the phone and then hit the hangup button 3 times for 2 seconds each to erase the code. It didn't work and they tell me the next step is to replace the system at the dealer. Sounds a little drastic! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a source for this, but actually I seem remember reading a post somewhere that some of the older Bluetooth modules lacked the ability to override the security code and the only way to get around it was to simply replace it. My question is who gets to pay for the replacement...

I believe that if you delete all the old pairings through the hands-free system it will delete the security code. Have you tried that? If you have and it didnt work, sorry.
