235 will not rub. I have 235/70/16 and the 16" rim is only 6.5" wide. I believe the 18" rim is wider .

 

Spot on Elisha. I run 235/70/16 on mine which lifted the vehicle by 15mm and makes the speedo read correctly.
I have even fitted chains without a problem.

 

A couple more options: my '08 has the 225/60-18 and my '10 has 245/50-18. My rims are stock 8" wide.
Both sets are Michelin Primacy H-rated. Great tires.

are you SURE that both sets of wheels are 8" wide?? with 225 width on the '08 i'd be willing to bet that they are only 7" wide. otherwise, why would mitsu use two different size tires on the same size rim?

not to mention that there is a 1" difference in diameter between those two sizes.

You're right. Someone else told me they were 8", but they are 7".
The 225/60s were the only size in the tire we wanted at the time that would fit and they were cheaper in cost. They are taller than stock.
The 245/50 are 1" wider and by chose for traction. I'm going to try a couple autocross trial runs here.

Any rubbing on the 225/60-18? I'm running into the same problem with the Primacy's, the 225/55/18 are on national backorder and the best they can find are the 60's

 

my 2010 have 18x8 rims 37mm offset with 235/55 tires. no rubbing issues and still plenty of clearance left. i even think a 245/50 will fit.

my winters are 235/70 on the OEM 16x6.5 rims

i don't think the 2007 and 2010 undercarriage is any different.

No, no rubbing what-so-ever with either size. And they are the Primacy MXM4. Excellent ride and wear.
