Default 07 Rear display

I have a 07 outlander LS with the in dash navigation, but without the rear entertainment package. I would like to install a rear display so that my daughter can watch her movies. I have seen that there is only a plug with both audio and video for the rear entertainment setup, but will need RCA connections. Has anyone done this? Thanks for any information you can offer. If this information is already poster I am sorry, I wasn't able to get the search function working too well. No matter what I searched for it said there were no results.

well you've come to the right place. there's more info about the outlander from people on this board than anywhere else. would you like the factory rear entertainment like this?

Thanks for the very quick reply. I wouldn't mind the factory setup, but would be fine with just a headrest display that plays from the front DVD player. Not sure if is possible. I know I can do this with my Pioneer Z1, but thats aftermarket. Are the factory setups available outside of mitsubishi?

the one i just pictured costs you $1200.00 with the install kit. it would be the easiest to install because its the genuine factory accessory.

but if your handy enough you can view this post to help setup an aftermarket display. https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_151058/tm.htm.

Thank you. I skimmed through this post earlier, but apparently didn't read enough. Is plug C-8 there when you don't have the rear setup? Will the video display through this line while in motion or will it cut out like the front?

Hi Dave1131. I installed the OEM RES and used the pkpaperenik/rdenis's method to communicate it with the MMCS. Yes, you have the C-8 connector and when you want to watch video in motion from RES in MMCS, it is cancelled; we needed the magic of Otaku-Brian360-rcostin to eliminate this restriction. . .

Thanks jsrd. I guess I will be waiting for someone to come up with a easy solution for this. I would love to experiment, but its my wifes car and she would kill me if anything happened to it. I just want to be able to have a simple rear headrest display that I can control from the MMCS and not have cut out when in motion. Why can't they make these more like my Pioneer Z1. Thanks again.
