Thanks jsrd. I guess I will be waiting for someone to come up with a easy solution for this. I would love to experiment, but its my wifes car and she would kill me if anything happened to it. I just want to be able to have a simple rear headrest display that I can control from the MMCS and not have cut out when in motion. Why can't they make these more like my Pioneer Z1. Thanks again.

You need to: press and hold the Nav and Set buttons for 5 seconds. A new menu will come up. You want to select 'Version Indication'. If you are in the US you should have a model of NR-261UM. The main thing is finding out your Application version. ex 00.20.68. The guys from https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_222824..._1/key_/tm.htmhave created an update file that will update the MMCS with the appropriate file to eliminate the front display from cutting out video (aka DVD).
My post here: https://mitsubishiforum.com/m_222824...58/key_/tm.htmexplains how I did it. And I now enjoy DVD's on the MMCS while driving. No harm to the MMCS, everything else works just as it did before.

This is an easy fix now. Download a file, extract it, burn to a disc, update the MMCS. Almost as simple as that....

RE: 07 Rear display
tdford, I finally checked my version and I do have the 261UM 1.09. I downloaded Otaku's patch, removed the .txt extension and extracted with winrar. I now have 1 file called dvd_in_motion.exe. When I run this I get a small window that is showing in the attached pic. I know that I must be doing something wrong, but not quite sure what that might be.

RE: 07 Rear display
Dave1131, ok there is one piece of info that we are missing: You need to find out your Application Version. Like I said above, mine is 00.20.68. The 261UM means that yours is North America, and 1.09 everyone has. 261EM is Europe, and there is a Russia and Japan one to.
They have only patched the DVD mod for people with application #'s 00.20.68 and 00.30.94. So if you have somthing different than that, then you will have to wait, for the peeps doing the patch have not got around to the newer ones yet.
If you do have one of these numbers, It does make a difference which file you download. Here you will find downloads for both application #'s: http://www.deltainfo.ro/manuals/mitsu/outlander/
They have done so much updating that I think that some of the files are already in the .ISO file format ready to burn. If you get a file that is a .RAR then you need to extract it (ex. winrar) to get the .ISO file. The only tricky thing is to make sure that your burn software on your computer has the option to: "burn as image". It has to burn as an Image otherwise the MMCS will not recognize it correctly. In my burn software (Cyberlink DVD Power2Go) under the toolbar for settings or something there was a option that I could select "burn as image". Since its only burning 12mb or 24mb (depending what app version fileyou have) it doesnt take but like 2 min. I have heard people having problems with any disc other than CD-R. So that is what I used, and to make sure that you "close the disc".
Hopefully this helps you, first go see what App version your MMCS is running.

RE: 07 Rear display
tdford, sorry, i forgot to tell you the application #. It is 20.68. I followed the link you provided and now have the iso file and theread-me. I will burn it out and give it a try. Thank you and everyone else for your help. This has to be the most helpful forum that I have used.
I assume that the 2 files available are the origional 20.68 file and the DVD in motion update. Is this correct?

RE: 07 Rear display
Great! with 00.20.68 you want to use the bottom link on that page:http://www.deltainfo.ro/manuals/mits...MMCS-261UM.rar. The one called "Original version" only sets the 00.20.68 back to its original state (like if you never messed with it)
This gives you the .RAR that needs extracted. Then you burn the .ISO file
