This article is 12 years old, but it gets the point across: https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...transmissions/

Also keep in mind it's a 2.0 non turbo engine powering a fairly large AWD vehicle. It's never going to be fast. Not sure what that bloke from Australia was talking about with the gas or the air filter though. K&N is a good product and I can't see how it would introduce more dust into the engine. You might get a couple more horsepower out of the engine with that filter, and they last a lot longer than the paper filters, so the refresh kit expense is a nonissue.
Yes I was wondering what he was talking about in regards to the K N filter, And the gas. So I’m going to purchase one. The overall mph has improved up to 32 mpg a couple of times. But the low speed acceleration hasn’t. In fact it has started a cvt shutter between 10 and 35 mph. I put a post on here with more detail.
So now I have 3500 miles on it. And I hope it learns my driving style soon. This cvt shutter makes you wonder if it’s going to crap out sometimes. Hopefully after another 3500 miles it will improve. We will see.

I just read the link you posted about adaptive trans. It has given me some insight into this cvt issue. And I now have a better understanding of the one in this Outlander Sport.
Whats interesting is the car I traded out of had a cvt also. Jeep Compass 4 Wd, about the same engine size. Never had a issue with it.
But we aren’t comparing the same trans between the two companies.
Anyway, I will keep in mind the ECU is going to school every day.

If you're experience some kind of shudder in the transmission, that doesn't sound normal. I would take it to the dealer.

Already did take it to the dealer, they can’t duplicate the issue. I have since learned that the trans needs to adjust itself to my driving style.
So I await to see how smart it is. Time will tell.
