2004 Outlander Spark Plug Replacement
#2
Assuming that it is the 4G69 engine, then it is relatively easy;
Remove the plastic air box on the top of the engine, 5 screws and a jubilee clip. You will then see the 4 coil packs poking through the top of the rocker cover. Carefully unclip the plug / socket arrangement on each of the coil packs with the help of a flat bladed screwdriver. There is a single screw holding each coil pack to the rocker cover. Undo these screws, then the coil back will simply pull out.
You will then be able to access the plugs using a spark plug socket on an extension bar. Use a socket that has the rubber insert that grips onto the plug, or you will not be able to grip it to remove it from the tube that it is recessed in. It is also easier to use a solid bar and socket, rather than a wobble type plug wrench, as it will give you a better ‘feel’ for the threads when putting in the new plugs.
As always when fitting new plugs, be careful not to cross thread or over-tighten.
