Hi - in my 2005 2.4L Outlander the SRS Airbag light has started to come on intermittently. On for a few miles then out for a while then back on again.
Are there any known problems with this?
I'm assuming a dodgy connector but where?

 

From what I have heard, this problem is caused by the ribbon cable that connects to a spiral (clock spring) connector in the steering wheel centre. The cable wears through due to the constant turning of the steering wheel. You will find it gets worse over time, until the srs light is on all the time.
I have the same problem with mine, but haven't fixed it yet due to being nervous about interfearing with the air bag system.

 

Not attempted this yet but now failed the MOT so I'll have to have a go.
I'm also a bit nervous of the airbag system. I'll remove power before starting work on it - any other tips?
