Default 2006 Outlander - Retrofitting cruise control

Hi,
I've got a 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander 2nd Generation, Imported to New Zealand from Japan, 2006 -> model ,
I want to retrofit cruise control, from all the reading I've done, this seemed quite straight forward, According to everyone that has done this, the criuse control was already activated in almost all Mitsubishi models pre 2010, so I would not even have to change the software,
I bought the complete steering wheel and brake light switch from a 2007 Lancer, but when I went to install it, my outlander already had a 4pin brake light switch, but only 2 wires going to the switch. Not 4 wires like I've seen in hundreds of pictures where people retrofitted the OEM cruise control.
I installed the new steering wheel and connected everything, the radio buttons work, but the cruise buttons does absolutely nothing. Is it possible that this one model Outlander from Japan does not have the wiring and software to retrofit the OEM cruise control?
If there is anyone out there in internet land that has done this mod on the same outlander or other car with only 2 wires to the brake light switch, how did you do it :>
