2007 Outlander XLS California Radiator Replacement
I currently live in NC and can't pass a vehicle inspection due to a check engine light being cause by a radiator that was replaced. The shop that replaced it thought it would be ok to just zip tie the sensor to the radiator which didn't work. My question is does anyone know of an aftermarket radiator that will work with the sensor? OR is there a way to bypass the sensor? I would have to have to junk the car for something silly like this. Thanks.
Hi
It will work however the 4 prongs on the sensor which were inserted through the original radiator fins, need to be shorted together before zip tying the sensor back on to the new radiator. Its an anti tamper device and if the pins are not shorted the sensor causes a code to be triggered, I replaced one in Dec 2023 and its been fine since

Thanks so much for the reply! I was about to junk a perfectly good car since the only option seemed to buy a $1800 dollar radiator which is close to the value of the car.
I'm kinda of new to this so if you could elaborate on what you mean by shorting the sensor? Are you referring to the sensor (DOR I think) that is attached? I know the previous mechanic who installed the new non-CA radiator tried that but probably didn't try shorting it since I still have the check engine light. How do you short the sensor? Thanks again, you are a saint.
