Default 2008 Outlander issues

Well I just paid off my Outlander and own it outright and it is having a couple issues as I receive the title. First it likes to get stuck in Park and I have to jiggle the key and shake the car to get it to go to Reverse or Drive. Second is mu Cruise Control is working part time. One day I will set it and it works fine. The next time I try to use it everything seems to be normal but it will not set on a speed to go down the highway. Any suggestions for either issue would be appreciated.

Thanks

The park detection switch on the shifter itself suffers from problems with grease contamination, which causes a poor contact at the switch, making it not realize the key is on and lock the shifter in Park. On the switch mounted on the brake pedal (integrated into the stop light switch), the issue is an internal short due to over-greasing from the factory. When this happens, the brake pedal depression does not carry sufficient current and won't release the lock on the shifter. When the problem is occurring, check to see if your brake lights are working, if not, the brake pedal mounted switch is the cause of your problem.
Check to see if the cruise control light comes on in the dash when the switch is turned on. Also make sure that all brake lights operating normally (no dim or burnt-out lights), and are standard bulbs (no LEDs). A faulty brake switch or brake light bulb will cancel the cruise control, as well as a blown stop light fuse.
