2009 outlander tailgate will not open

Default 2009 outlander tailgate will not open
Hi , I took it to the dealer and was told that my switch and lock were the problem. anyone know how to replace or even just open the tailgate to repair this? thank you lots in advanced

I believe there is a manual release under a pop off circle on the inner side of the tailgate. That should get it open at least, but yes you have to crawl back in there to get to it.
