Hi, I'm interested in finding a 2nd generation Outlander between the years '10-'13. I'm looking for something reliable that my wife can drive and there doesn't seem to be much information out there. What are the common issues with these vehicles? Are they reliable and do they last? Are the repairs expensive? I'm also concerned about the CVT transmissions. Nissan has a very bad reputation for these. I'm wondering how they hold up in these models. Any info would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

What I know is that CVT isn't good in Outlander as well, even for 3rd generation. Avoid it because some models lacks CVT radiator and then cooling is not efficient. What an idiot put CVT on 4wd car? Bad idea, poor design.

the V6 is mated to a six speed auto and as long as the maint is done correctly lasts quite a while (I've always noticed Mitsubishi uses better sub components than other makers)

I would avoid the 4cy CVT as well. The V6 is the way to go. I had a 2007 new and now have another 2007 and a 2012 GT. I love these things, the drop-down tailgate is a game changer. I have used it with ramps to haul 36" commercial mowers and a big 8hp snowblower. The current ones have 132k and 160k and up until last month the only big job was timing belts and that was pretty easy. The 2012 now has a bad solenoid coil in the transaxle that prevents it from going into 4wd. Too expensive to have a shop fix and I have been unable to find a correct transaxle. Anyway, great car, always looking for "new" low mileage ones to purchase.
