Default 2010 Gas cap ?

We have had our 2010 XLS for just over a month now. The wife drives it all the time because it's easy to get the little one in and out. Each time we've refueled I've had to get the gas cap off for her.
Man that thing is tough to get off! I'm not surprised at all that she can't get it.

Has anybody else noticed this?

I've noticed that as well. I have mine less than a month and am the only one that has gassed it up but I can see my wife having trouble with it if she were to get gas.

I have noticed the same thing on my 2010 GT. I have started being very careful when replacing the cap. Snug for a seal but not too tight. If its too loose, it can trigger a check engine light. My Nissan, i tightened till it clicked. This one if you do that, you need channel locks to get it off. If I just snug it on, it comes off with out problem. Not a perfect solution, but it is working for me. FWIW

I thought according to the instructions (I think they're printed on top of cap) you are suppose to tighten until you hear a click..which is pretty tight. I guess it doesn't hurt to just turn it until snug?

I have a 2008 and my Wife cant get it uopen, she needs to ask the Gas guy to do. Even I have problems with it..

I'm taking it into the dealer to get a fix, I'll keep you guys posted. I'd imagine they would provide a fix for free or a new cap.

I got the same problem with my new 2011 Outlander Sport. I already refueled 3 times and it tends to get harder to open. If youre using big gloves due to weather then youre also in a tough situation. Im about to get my tag in the dealership and I will let you guys posted if they can do something with it.

wife has a problem with it sometimes, it is a little difficult I guess...but I haven't had too much of a problem. RockAuto has a few gas caps if dealerships can't help...at least for the US guys.

same issue here, the gas cap has a rubber gasket inside. I sprayed some silicone on the gas cap gasket, seems to open easlier now. I will have the wife give it a try now.
