Default 2010 stalls on cold start

My 2010 outlander XLS stalls on very cold starts. This is only a problem when well below freezing. I had the same issue last winter.

This past summer we tracked down an evap leak to the seal around the fuel pump port on the fuel tank. That was repaired and the evap code is gone.

Side note: I am very far from a Mitsubishi dealer, so working with independent mechanics.

Anyway, this winter the cold start problem continues, so the evap leak was not to blame unfortunately. When you start the car after sitting overnight it idles very rough and stalls after a second or two. Starts and stalls almost immediately. The second time it starts fine, drives fine. Once it's warm, no problems starting.

I'm wondering about the IAC since I read about this being an issue.

Again, there are no codes coming up (unless there are hidden codes only mitsubishi can read)

Your thoughts and input is appreciated.

My 2010 Lancer had a bunch of relays replaced under warranty that were apparently a ‘known issue’. The dealer called them cold start relays and replaced 4 or 6 of them after I had issues starting the car after it had been sitting for an hour.

Thanks Kev994, after reading this I found the following TSB.

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/08...s/relaytsb.pdf

so I checked and my vehicle was made in january of 2010 and has the blue and grey relay switches as per the TSB, which I assume are original. It's possible one could have gone bad. I'll call Edmonton Mitsubishi tomorrow to see if they have encountered the issue since they are also in a cold climate similar to me.

Last night I didn't plug the car in and it started just fine this morning. I have a new theory. The block heater is interfering with the electrical. This car also has the rust inhibitor module and I am wondering if the combination of the block heater and the module is creating a problem. I'll get more scientific and try both unplugging the car before starting is and starting it while plugged in. I'd like to find the module and unplug it, because it's useless anyway, but I am unable to located it, so if anyone can help with that....
