Question 2011 Mistubishi Outlander - No Heat on Idle

Good day,

I live in Canada, Alberta. It -53C (127 F), and my issue it that even when I remote start the vehicle for 15 Min, when I get to the vehicle, the oil temperature is still at 0. The only way the vehicle is getting warm it by driving it. Also when I drive it get warm, then when I stop, the heat get very cold.

I know the older 08 model had a TSB for that.

How can I fix this?

Also I live 3h away from any Mitsubishi dealer. Can anybody fix the TSB as per Mitsubishi direction or just the dealer can do it?

Thanks

Are you using a radiator block for these extreme cold temps? You might have low coolant levels that will only push coolant through the heater core while driving because of higher rpms. Check your coolant levels first, if they're ok, cut a piece of cardboard about 1/2 the size of the radiator and place it on the front side (side facing front grille). Try that first

When I lived in a cold area, I always stuck some cardboard in front of the radiator behind the grill to keep that heat in. One possibility is a thermostat stuck open, but that rarely occurs.
