2011 outlander timing chain
Vehicle will crank but not start. I scanned for DTCs and found none stored in ecm. Verified that engine is getting fuel and has ignition. Pulled all 4 spark plugs and performed static compression test on all 4 cylinders. Cyl # 1=30psi Cyl # 2=50psi Cyl #3 = 70psi Cyl #4 =80psi. Engine is very low on compression. My assumption is that the timing chain has jumped a few teeth. We would need to remove valve cover and visually inspect condition of timing chain. We could also perform cylinder leak down to see if major engine damage has occurred. Agree/disagree?
