2012 Outlander - after market GPS/DVD stereo good idea?
Hello fellow Outie owners,
Has anyone here tried to switch the factory stereo (Outlander ES 4WD) with one of those after market GPS/DVD/Bluetooth/Stereo etc. head unit? Is it a good idea to buy those? They go between $500 and $600 and I figured since I need to buy a GPS anyways which will cost around $200 that maybe it's a good idea to get those? Anyone with any input will be appreciated. Thanks,
Eli

Hi Eli, I have a 2011 that I had fitted with a double din Pioneer. Stock GPS units from the factory are pretty ugly in my opinion so changing it out isn't a bad idea. One thing to look out for is you won't have an exact 1:1 translation with the steering wheel controls compared to the factory units but I dont think thats a deal breaker. Most aftermarket GPS's use NAVTEQ maps and are pretty up to date. Things like traffic updates are a bonus. My Z140BH came with it, but if you prefer Garmin maps Kenwood is the way to go.
