2012 Outlander Sport CVT Transmission Failed
Friday night I was driving it home when the car started stuttering and the transmission running real rough when I was slowing down. I pulled over and let it cool off a bit but it didn't improve. I got the car going as it was smoother over 30 mph and drove it to a friends place close by. It stopped real rough there suddenly and wouldn't move again. The engine turns off but the car won't move even though it feels like it's in gear now. I had it towed home.
Codes P0720 (Secondary/ Output Speed Sensor)
P1723 (Pulley revolution sensor control)
P0715 (Primary/ input speed sensor) are tripped under the transmission. No engine codes and no fluid leaks. I have a feeling the CVT transmission has failed.
It's a 2012 Outlander Sport with 160k miles. I just spent about $1k to have the hoses and pulleys replaced as well as the A/C compressor, condenser, and dryer. I like the car since it's fun to drive and has the Rockford Fosgate sound system with the panoramic sunroof. I'd like to keep it running for another year and it's also worth nothing with a dead transmission. It did start getting jumpy in reverse last week but nothing in forward.
Jatco F1CJA transmission
I talked to the mechanic and he said if I find the same transmission he can put it in for about 8 to 10 hours of labor. I see they go for around $1000 used from wreck yards with less miles. Has anyone gone down this route or have any experience with it? Before I spend this money it would be great to know if it will work and if it's worth it really. Thanks in advance.

I wanted to add that it's the 2.0L engine with the 6 'speed' CVT transmission with paddle shifters and sport shift mode. I changed the fluid every 30k miles since 94k when I bought it. The previous owner said that he did not change it and didn't know about it. The transmission did recently get somewhat whinny when hot but functioned ok in Drive.
I called a bunch of shops around here in Tampa that wouldn't touch them. The dealer wants around $6k to replace it with a new one. One shop will replace it with a remanufactured one and 3 year warranty for $3900 and another $3400 w/ 1 year warranty which I'll do. Otherwise the car is worth nothing. Plus, they'll give me a lifetime warranty if I get it serviced with them every 30k miles for $259. I replaced the fluid in mine also but I was the third owner so who knows if they did the same. I thought about going down the junk yard route and getting a used one and getting it installed but who knows what shape they're in. It's a gamble.

I saw that also. I don't know why the full 100k miles doesn't transfer over from the original buyer other than they want you to buy new cars. 60k is not enough with these transmissions. Nissan was forced to offer 100k miles although I'm not sure if it transfers over.
