Well looks like Mitsu is not bringing the next gen outlander for 2013 yet!
The website has already updated.
Some changes I noticed..
GT comes with Sirius radio standard
SE/GT comes with heated seats standard even if it is cloth.
FUSE handsfree link systems comes on SE and GT models, so no longer have to find parts for bluetooth, USB etc, it comes with it.
SE gets chrome trim on the A/C *****.
MSRP for 2013 GT is $700 more over 2012 GT. But the premium package is $400 less because it no longer adds on the satellite radio, heated seat. and remember heated seat, BT, XM comes standard. I guess nothing is free.
The outlander is a great CUV but makes me wonder if Mitsu is going to quit the US market soon, but then, they just setup a factory in IL, to build the outlander sport and probably the regular outlander as well.

While I like the design, it is kind of outdated now inside and out. Also competition showing interesting choices, so I see no good reason to go with new Outlander today. Still waiting for their plugin version though. Didn't they promise a hybrid version this fall and plugin in march...? I am having doubts this would happen now.

They didn't promise any EV for the US when they pulled the curtain? Or did they? The next gen model should be available as 2013 model in Europe at least.
Without a bit of EV technology in it, it would be too hard to keep up with 2013 Santa Fe and PathFinders which will sell on looks alone. Imagine outlander gets 500+ mile to the tank in EV gas combined mode. It would be pretty neat.
Mitsu claimed they will be first but Toyota will a Rav4 EV already which they already have a concept.
Also, EV tech from Mitsu is not cheap, look at the i-Miev, it cost as much as the outlander. So to make a EV outlander it would be $40-50k.. since the current outlander can go $35k already.
Not sure who would be able to justify the price tag then.
So, mitsu have some things to figure out.

Don't forget that the current generation Outlander was on sale outside the U.S. a year before the U.S. got it. Let the other countries get the first-year buggy version and then the U.S. will get the one with the kinks worked out. As for aging, the RAV4 is as old or older than the current generation Outlander. I've found that the Outlander was a much better value.

The new (2014) Outlander is on sale now in Russia. I went on Mitsu's Russian website and using google translation was able to get some info on it properly translated. I believe Europe and Asia markets are next this fall, and the US/Canada probably early next year.
