Default 2014 Outlander gt engine problems

Ok so for 3 years I have been having issues with miss firing. The first time it happened, she would act like she was going to stall but as long as I kept her going she wouldn't. Once turned of no restart. I would have to have it towed. Dealer said I had bail coil Injectiors. Replaced all 6 spark plugs and the bad coils with them. (Only the ones giving the miss fire) than in about 8 months it happened again. Changed bad coils again. Has happened 3 more times. These 5 times I would get no check engine light. 6 months ago I got an check engine and I had a light jerking hesitation in the engine but no stalling symptoms(like your tires would slip on ice then re catch is the best way to describe it) and vehicle would restart after shutting off. Took to the dealer they said miss fire again bad coil. Now I'm just getting pissed. Because they refuse to get down to the bottom as to why this is happening. Now this past weekend while driving home my check engine light came on and I had a heavy hesitation of power. No jerking or stalling issues. Dropped of at the dealer for a night drop. Now the manager who knows my history is not there. And the person who is in his place is an idot....I get a call back finally and he's asking me why my cars there. Well check engine light is on and I have loss of power...and I am assuming it's a repeat of the issue I have had the last 3 years. So he starts asking me all these questions then says so you don't know what's wrong? Am I missing something I'm not a mechanic and I don't have a reader( I am mechanically inclined) and I have warranty so figure it out. And I said if it comes back a coil miss fire you guys need to figure out the problem as to why. So I get a call today. They tell me they tested everything from the voltage, pressure test, fuel to air ratio. Etc. But then proceeds to tell me that I have no miss fire and all my coils are working as they should. But the code that came up was for my exhaust manifold catalytic converter. 🥴 And they cleared the code and it's drivable but if it comes up again you should replace it .. So now I'm like 🤔. So again I proceeded to tell him well replace it it should be covered under warranty. He tried arguing with me that I am way out of warranty. Jokes on you guys I purchased an extra 5 years and that expires on September 🙃. Then proceeds to tell me that I still have to pay for all the labour and diagnostics. Not true. The warranty I have pays for all of it. So now I am thinking they are trying to screw me over. I am waiting for a call back tomorrow. Forgive me for the long post I am just beyond frustrated. So now I truly believe that this has been the problem for the last 3 years as to why I keep getting bad coils. As the number one reason would be excessive heat...and a bad manifold cat would cause excessive heat. Has this happened to anyone else as I can't seem to find any information. And even the deal can not explain to me why my coils keep going. Including repeated ones that where just changed 6 months ago. And I never had a check engine light the first 5 times. Just these last two times. 😡

Step 1: Take your vehicle to a different dealership and see what that place has to say. If it's the same BS, take it to another, etc., until you find a competent dealership.

Default Update

I have no options but to use the dealership I have. But here's the update. Guy working last week was an idiot. CEL was cat code. My warranty covers the manifold...but not the manifold with the cat attached 😒. Anyway they cleared the code and told me 2000$ for replacement...not without trying to get me to trade in first. Not gonna happen. So did a bit of research and just said f it. I grab a can of royal purple max clean. I am in Canada and we don't really have any cat cleaners. Dumped the hole bottle in and filled up. Drove to and from the lake just over 2 hours. And now she purrs like a kitten. I normally get 10.5-9.2 l/100km . 9.2 empty car no passengers. I had full load and all 3 of my kids both ways and dropped down to 7.9 so I'm sure it did something. She runs smoother, doesn't seem to be throwing off soon much heat . I'm gonna run another bottle after a normal fill of gas and see what happens. I am also confident that this was the cause of my coil injectors going due to excessive heat. I also got in contact with my extended warranty company that I purchased when I bought this veichle in 2013 and they sent me over a list of everything that is covered. Many things on this list that I have paid for as the dealership said it wouldn't be covered. But they did not bother to check. Specifically my sway bars front and back and links and bushings. Rear I have all ready replaced and paid for. Not the front needs to be changed told me the cost and told me that's not something warranty will cover. So if anyone purchased or purchasing extended warranty make sure you get your list of what's covered there's many things on there you think would not be covered but in fact is. Including your stereo and window switches 🙃
