Default 2014 Outlander GT is Fast!!

Does anyone else own a new outlander GT? Isn't it crazy fast when using the CVT paddles? I wasn't expecting it too be so quick. Im wondering when aftermarket parts will be available for this model. Very impressed with this mitsubishi

The GT would have a 6 speed automatic, not a CVT.

CVT - Continuously Variable Transmission. Continuously in the sense that there is no shifting and hence would be no need for pictured shifters....

Maybe you should look at the specifications and you will see it is as ckmecha says.

Yes, I have a 2014 and it quick particularly at speed. A bit sluggish off the line in my opinion, but then again I'm not out for a race.

As others have stated, it is a 6 speed transmission. Sport-Tronic I believe they call it. The paddle shifters are available for both this transmission and the CVT as on my wife's Outlander Sport.

Without being argumentative as I'm not sure if you're refering to that one particular model, but my XLS is CVT and it quite definitely has paddle shifters; it forces a pseudo-fixed method if used that way. I only ever use it occasionally for downshifting to keep my speed in check going downhill (which isn't as hard to maintain as a normal auto)

Paddle shifters on a CVT do seem kind of silly, in 2010 the GT/XLS only came with a 6 speed, the CVT was offered on other trims (with paddles) I guess they changed it in the newer ones because you plain couldn't get a top trim with a CVT before.

Supposedly it kinda works like a clutchless manual, but I haven't had the chance/inclination to really try it. Bit hard for me to get into the manual mindset without the clutch foot action / accelerator release
