Default 2014 outlander rear middle seat belt locking up

2014 outlander rear middle seat belt locking up, I barely move when I was in the middle back seat and the seatbelt keeps locking up on me. Took it to the dealer but they said that's normal, that can't be right because my friend who was pregnant sitting there and it locked up on her and she couldn't move and actually restricting her from movement and it actually squeeze her stomach we had to pull over and switch her seat right next to the window. The dealer said they tried other outlander and it does the same thing. Is your outlander doing the same thing? If it is they should recall this because it's a safety issue.

Default 2016 Outlander rear middle seat belt locks

Well, I have the 2016 Outlander and this is a problem. The rear middle seat belt locks up and will not release, just keeps getting tighter and tighter. We have 3 kids in the rear seats, so moving a kid out of the seat belt is not an option. This is definitely a safety issue, because it won't unlock unless the seat belt is unbuckled from both places, and happens while driving. Took it to the dealer and they said "that's the way it is supposed to be..." and showed another Outlander that did the same thing. I don't think that's safe, and it should definitely be looked at.

I too have noticed that the seatbelts are not very forgiving. And that's even in the front seat.
Havent been any passengers in the back, but I'm curious if they are as bad on my 16 as the complaints stated above.

Get enough people to file a complaint at the NHTSA webpage, it's easy to fill out on their website.

But yes, if the seatbelt is not functioning properly, it will be high on their priority list and will result in a recall. If a dealer can replicate it with other new vehicles on the lot, then it's definitely an issue.
