2015 V6 Fuel Requirement
Just a quick question for someone who owns a 2015 Outlander with the V6.
What is the required fuel grade for the 2015 V6 Outlander?
My wife is considering upgrading to the 2015 or 2016 from her 2012.
The 2012 is recommended for Premium fuel (91 octane) but can be operated with regular (87).
When 87 is used there is reduced timing/power etc but it is still "allowed".
Has this changed for the 2015, and I assume the 2016, to Premium only?

I have a 2015 ES AWC..with the 2.4 ... In the manual it makes reference to the 3.0 V6..premium fuel is "Recommended" .. I would ask the dealer to confirm. If it was my car I would be using the good stuff. IMHO
Thanks for information. Premium is recommended but not required in the 2012 as well so I was just wondering. The wording is quite specific on mine. Generally my wife uses regular however when we are traveling she fills up with "the good Stuff" for the prior week and during our vacations. She is fine with the reduced performance when alone however is concerned if premium is required.

As far as why they would....well I have become increasingly "frustrated" with Mitsubishi and now kind of expect them to do, in my opinion, stupid things.
For example they made about 100 changes to the Outlander but power and fuel economy are basically the same. When the 2nd gen Outlander came out it was at the top of its class in size, power and options. Now it is near the bottom. Other companies have made advances but Mitsubishi makes cosmetic changes.
They also cancelled the Montero in North America, did not bring their minivan ever, cancelled the galant, cancelled the eclipse, are slowly killing the lancer and released the mirage which is a very poor imitation of the colt. All of this is my opinion. I have owned Mitsubishi since 2003 and have had a 3 lancers (2003 es, 2010 ralliart sportback 2014 Evo), 2003 eclipse, 2 outlanders (2007 and 2012).
With the way things seem to be going I highly doubt I will have a 7th and it makes me sad bitter and a little angry. End of rant.

I can agree with all you said for sure...Im on my 5th Mitsu..4 Lancers and my current 15 Outlander. I love the brand, but you have to wonder at some of the moves they have been making...looks like the EVO is gone after this year as well...smh..and they sure need a 4 door larger type sedan to offer to the people in that segment. Apparently they are going with the corporate change of styling across the line...Lancer, Outlander and RVR..in 2016...looks pretty good from what Ive seen...but the performance hmmmm...not so much....just hope they stick around in Canada...cause despite all the changes ...I really like these vehicles...
on my 2016 GT it says "Premium Recommended"(91 octane) but says it can run fine on 87 octane with slightly reduced performance. I imagine the only difference would be a few degrees of timing advance at WOT due to knock sensor picking up some detonation and when mivec kicks in. My wife never goes WOT anyways, so no point in paying for the 91 or above octane fuel IMO. I only have 1300 km's on it so far, and am tracking fuel mileage and KM's per tank. Going to see if running 94 octane or 91 octane improves the MPG this outlander gets compared to 87 octane.
Mitsubishi is bringing the outlander PHEV to north america, they are just in short supply of batteries, otherwise they would have done it sooner. It's a step in the right direction from bringing the brand back, with a GREEN image, but at least it'll make a resurgence.
