Default New 2015 Outlander

Outlander 2015 is getting a new grill, skid plate, some blink blink chrome and a ESS - Emergency Stop Signal.
Use case: When the driver jammed the brakes hard, the hazard lights will activate along with the brake lights to warn drivers behind of an emergency brake situation.

I'm still waiting for Outlander PHEV to reach the shore of US but it seems so distant. Not sure if they'll have the 2016 redesign or stay with the current Outlander PHEV.

I can't wait that long and may go for the 2015 Outlander, which is already launched in Japan. Check out the new front grill, does make it look a tad better by flipping the curve outwards.

Grill looks better, couldn't be worse then the '13-14's. The now black part of the bumper and skid plate helps a bit too, kind of resorting back to previous models....... They were on to something with the '10-12's, they just needed to make minor adjustments to work out the aggressive look that people complained about ( I actually liked it).

@tdford - agree.

They seems to have downgrade the engines offering to a 2.0L for 2WD (What? now its a car or CUV?) and 2.4L for 4WD option both with INVECS-III 6 Speed Sport Mode CVT. Not sure if USA will still get the GT 3.0L.

No mentioned if it will retain the 7 seats or will it go back to 5 seats.
It seems that the new PHEV when introduced will have these similar 2015 upgrades.

Translated from MM JP. the improvement.

Can't agree more, and can't wait to see how it will become for the 2016 redesign.

Black "Bra" to muffle up the radiator.

On ESS
This may be the reason for the ESS feature.
Go to 1.34mins.

The outlander brakes hard but the 2nd car didn't realize the emergency stop situation and ramp hard on the butt. Strangely assuming the Outlander driver had his foot on the brake, why would it still spin 180?

What is the reliability of 2014 Outlander in comparison to Toyota rav4, Subaru Forester? Do they last 10-15 years with no major issues?

For unbias feedback check out url below
Mitsubishi Outlander Problems | CarComplaints.com

GT MIVEC 3.0L engine is based on MM 6B31 V6 3.0L since 2007.

ES & SE 2.4L engine is based on GEMA 4B12, which is also used by Hyundai and Chrysler. Hence, they all have the robustness that Hyundai & MM offered a 10 yr or 100k powertain warranty.

& I think 5 yrs warranty for all other nik naks for Mitsubishi. That should give some peace of mind.

The 2013/14 version has quite a bit of improvement over the previous years, it is relatively a new production and there is not sufficient time to compile the reliability data.

One thing for sure is that in USA, only Subaru & Mitsubishi had IIHS safety pick + (highest rating). Toyota, Nissan & Honda request more time to fix the new partial collision requirement.

Forrester is pretty cool but too small for me in terms of cabin space. The Boxer engine is pretty awesome. I like the fact that it is driver service friendly. You can do your own maintenance much more easily compare to others.

However, I've read about tranny issues with Subaru.

as for Toyota Rav 4, dunno much about it.

Note: when looking at the complaints website, it is also relative to the number of sales. Obviously higher sales volume will have more data & complaints. The idea is to capture gross failure complaint and not the outliers.
