Default 2016 Outlander - Rear Pads

Hey guys,

I got a 2016 outlander and my rear pads are both wearing a lot faster than the front ones. I have approximately 43k miles on it and the back ones look like they have about 5k left and front ones look as if they have another 15-20k miles left on them? Is this normal? I don't feel like they are sticking and I know the e-brake is off. I was just about to do the first rotor + brake change but i stopped in case this was not normal and I should take it to the dealer. Thank you all in advance.

Not sure if this is relative to your problem but see this https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...r-v6-gt-50978/
Turns out my failure was due to problems with the parking brake. Check to see if there is a parking brake recall on your model. Of course Mitsubishi only fixed the parking brakes under the recall.

Hey there,

My 2016 Outlander (43000km) is in the shop now for the Transmission Flush service (the $600 service) and the recall on the parking brake.
I get a call from service saying that they recommend the rear brakes get replaced (at another $400), but the front brakes are fine for now.
OK, this ride is babied and I am the only driver. Back brakes failing before the front ones!!!!!!
I am not noticing ANY issues with braking or stopping.( Except for is it's Hill Assist Function, work fine but don't release smoothly, or so it seems)
I mention, MAYBE the rear brakes failing, somehow related to parking brake recall. I was told the issues were not related...OK........

My response to service,
If the back brakes fail at 43000km and front ones are still good, why would I but "CRAPPY" brakes on the rear again....
I am not a mechanic but come on....
I will say though, I am in Newfoundland, the service I get from Capital Mitsubishi is EXCELLENT.... Great staff...
Obviously I will get the brake issue taken care of, but will do a little more research first as to why the rear failed before the front.

Welcome to the world of Electronic Brake Distribution.
The computer bias to the rear to balance the vehicle so it does not dip and offload the rear.
Even my 2000 Neon with EBD ate the back brake faster then the front, that was a surprise to me.

And being alone in the car make the computer bias more than with passengers a question weight at the back.

Thanks for the info on EBD.
Well that explains why the rear fail first. If the dealer gave me an explanation like that MAYBE I would have got the rear brakes done.

Makes sense too when you say about the vehicle not dipping when brakes applied. The vehicle does have very good control when braking.
Even on the highway traveling at 100 - 110km/h and some idiot cuts you off, when you brake the control is very good.

So I have done some "looking around" for brakes. Any info or feedback on Power Stop Brakes? The Evolution Z23 Ceramic Pads with drilled and slotted rotors, were the ones I have been thinking about.

Don't know about these. I am presently using Max Brakes black coated drilled and slotted with ceramic pad and I love them, very good brake feel.
