Default 2017 outlander CVT intermittent power loss.

Ok this is really giving me a headache. Randomly, there is a massive power loss while driving almost Like a stall. The car will only drive about 5 miles an hour until it is shut off for a few seconds and then turned back on and then everything is back to normal. CVT fluid is changed regularly and there are no other problems with this car. Only happens once every couple of months but there is never any code and nobody can figure out any reason that it is happening. Has anyone else experienced this?

you're entering limp home mode (which is common on modern cars) - there is a missing signal to the ECM causing the logic to go, oh no we can't go on like this, and it enters limp home mode to prevent higher speed damages, but you have an intermittent problem that when reset, the sensor functions again and doesn't throw a hard code

you can carry a code reader to check when it happens what the soft code is, before shutting off and resetting, the car seems too new to have a corrosion problem with connectors or harnesses, but a good measure it to go through the body and check all your ground points, if anyone did an aftermarket install that could also be causing a problem, good luck
