3.0 mileage
Last week I've been on vacation on Huron/Georgian Bay region (sooo beautiful place by the way).
Undivided rural roads (80km/h speed limit), lots of small towns (50 km/h), hills, some road construction, moderate traffic.
Results:

Please note 9.7 l per 100 km is average for the entire usage time.
Before vacation it was 11.1.
Realtime it showed from 8.4 to 8.9 l per 100 km.

On the highways Holding the speed limits 100 to 110 km/hr I always get around 8.4 L/100, even in moving traffic.
The only place the 6 is thirsty is in town when cold, otherwise it's probably as good on average as the 4.
Again, it is in relation with the weight of your boot, and even then, a straining 4 cyl. will always be thirstier compared to a 6 cyl.

we drove from Toronto, ON to Myrtle Beach, SC, and back
loaded at the back with just enough peephole to see the traffic behind me.
used premium fuel all the way, on 4WD mode + some ocassional 4WD LOCK in the West Virginia and Maryland area.
logged 3400+kms averaging 110kms/hr and 10.7kms/liter (9.3L/100kms)
you can also compare my other mileage post here

I also have the 3.0 V6. My best mileage to date was on a trip from Barrie to Ottawa, taking the 7. Average speed was between 90-100 KM. I got 7.3L/100. My average highway is 8.6L/100. City is 10.2L/100. All this is with a K&N filter.
I definitely cannot complain about the performance and mileage on this vehicle.

Hi Vadimus (and others),
I noticed you also live in GTA so your observations on fuel consumptions should be similar to mine. This is my first SUV ( coming off 2.8l I6 sedan ) and I have no idea what to expect. It is a 2014 GT S-AWC 3.0 V6. I am getting 13.3-13.7 L/100 in the city. Some trips also had reasonable percentage (around 40%) of highway driving as well. One of the reason I got the car was good fuel economy, judging by the specs. I could no longer find this info on the official Canadian Mitsubishi website. It strangely disappeared, but used to say City: 10.7 L/100. On the US site it is rated: City - 11.76 L/100km (20mpg).
What are you observations?
Is this normal to get 13.5 L/100 all the time?
Should I talk to the dealer about this?
Nick

Here are the numbers I found (2014 2WD ES, AWC ES, AWC SE, S-AWC GT)
City (L/100km) 8.2 8.6 10.1 10.1
Highway (L/100km) 6.3 6.8 7.1 7.1
Combined (L/100km) 7.3 7.8 8.8 8.8
Mileage heavily depends on usage scenarios, driving habits and traffic conditions.
Check my video with a fuel efficiency test run (Mississauga to North York) mostly on highway yet with some roads as well.
My all-time average (M mode of trip computer) is 11.5 now.
Basically Mitsubishi tweaked new Outlander to be more efficient so you should expect better economy.

2012 Outlander GT-3.0 6sp auto- in the 20 mi loop taking my wife to work I'm about 22 mpg, using the dash computer.
Per tank, using pencil and paper method (actually calculator in cell phone) I average 23.0
That's with 11,000 mi on the car.And using reguar, not premium.

Thanks for your responses. There is got to be something wrong with my car then. I've yet to see average fuel consumption numbers drop below 13 L/100 (18mpg) in the city. I think I am doing everything I can to get the average down. Using Premium gasoline. Take off traffic lights so slowly that it likely annoys people behind me. The onboard “ECO Drive Level” consistently shows me 4 out 5 “leafs”, which probably means I am doing all the right things. Yet average fuel consumption stays way to high…
Vadimus, how do you get you OBC to stay in Manual Avg mode? Mine resets back to auto, every time I start the car. It even says that it would do this in the user's manual.
Quote:
“When the following operation is preformed, the mode setting changes automatically from manual to auto.
[Except for equipped with the F.A.S.T-key]
Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” positing from the “ACC”, “LOCK” or “OFF” position
[For vehicles equipped with the F.A.S.T-key] Change
Change the operation mode to ON from ACC or OFF.“

That's custom tweak, check my thread: https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...ization-40223/
Haven't tried my tool on next-gen Outlander.
We could try if you like, especially if you are somewhere near Mississauga
