Default 6B31 vs 6A13

Hey guys just doing a lot of homework before we buy our outtie..
We want a sunroof model but here in NZ it seems only the Vr-x comes with it.

Further I'm not sure we will be satisfied with the 2.4mivec so we are looking at the 3.0 mivec wich is rarer.
But in the same breath ,the 3.0 mivec does not look at all that awsum performance wise so I put a question to the wizards of braininess if one could help me ..

I'm thinking of buying the outlander chassis with sunroof either facelift or pfl and then fit either the 6A13or better yet my trusty 6A13TT instead..

As I see the 6B31 is the first of its kind I think they're a fair while away from perfecting performance especially from a SOHC motor, I prefer the dohc .

I know I can turn the 6A13 into a dohc as it is a SOHC but is the extra little gains worth the work?

Hence my reasoning for the 6A13TT instead.

Should the 6A prove itself would I be able to mate it upto the cvt box?
And is the 4 cyl cvt box the same as the v6 one or are there differences and if so where should I look please?

Further being able to install the 6A to the cvt trans I will be able to mate the wiring together easily .

Would the combo fit in the hole, would it be a good swap gains wise?

I'm not afraid at all of modification as I specialise in a few car mods so I'm happy to venture..

My only holdup would be do I do a swap and if so where could or what model do I go for then?

Many thanx guys

Before you go too far....

The 6B31 v6 has a real automatic 6 speed transmission.
Your motor would make a mess of the cvt box (like destroy it).

Just get the 6B31 and if you need more power then use this one as a platform as the transmission will be strong enough.

So they don't like the power then I take it? Hmmm might suit bolting the W5A42xxxxx box to the vr4 motor then I won't have problems..
Please explain the last sentence in your reply Claude please

I am French, so maybe I put words backward....

What I meant was, is you have the choice of Outlander get one with the 3 liters v6 so you will avoid the CVT and get a real transmission then you can think about getting a twin turbo 6A13.

Although I think the 6B31 is nice enough for most peoples need.

Also I don't think there is room in the engine bay for a TT 6A13 but you are probably better at deciding since you know the hardware.

Ok now I understand.. So the 2.4 have the cvt and 3ltr hav normal trans, phew!!! Lol
Ok so I guess it would fit in as there's already an east west v6 in there already..
Otherwise I could go to the 380 VRX motor as well I guess, that way I get economy and power.

6B31 is purposely made to be SOHC to provide low end torque (90% of peak at 2,000 RPM). Its basically a purpose built gasoline truck engine. I don't know what you hope to achieve, higher HP but lower torque and at very high revs?
If so, a sportier car may be something to look into instead of a SUV.

Any luck with the swap out or mods. I have a 2012 outlander GT V6 and can't seem to find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
