Default Audio help - 2016 Outlander w/Rockford Fosgate

I’ve got a 2016 Outlander SEL with the Rockford Fosgate audio system.

1. No sound until the volume is at 15 & then needs to be around 25-30 to actually hear it. This is recent, so I’m thinking maybe the amp is not turning on? How would I check?

2. Want to add Apple CarPlay & was looking at aftermarket head units. I’ve put aftermarket head units in both my ‘12 Corvette Grand Sport & ‘16 Wrangler JKU w/alpine system. According to Crutchfield there is no adapter to keep the factory back-up camera. I can keep all other factory functions (steering wheel controls, etc.), but not camera. That’s a no-go for my wife.

So is Crutchfield correct about the camera, and if so, can a newer Mitsu head unit with CarPlay be swapped in to my ‘16? This is my wife’s work car that sees over 25k mi per year so CarPlay would be a very nice addition for her.

Hello ! I have similar issue after retrofitting aux jax to my 2008 outie ( with RF sound system and hdd navi ) but only to my aux source. It is lower volume then usual and more on the right side. When y play from different source ( Radio / CD / HDD ) the sound is really good. I noticed that when i use the telephone via car bluetooth ( the default factory one ) the sound is similar, lower in volume, quality and more on the right side. I am replaying to your post because i thing the issue is similar with yours. Hope we all get a fix. The community here is really nice !

All the best !

Hi
I have a 2014 ZJ Outlander Aspire with the RF set up and was going to swap it out (sourced from a car wrecker) with the newer version that includes Apple Carplay and I assume reversing camera etc will be plug and play. Just looking into it.
How did you go with yours?
Cheers,
Mike
