Auto Start
Has anyone tried to install an aftermarket auto start on a new mitsu with the fast key system? The dealer wants $600 and I'm not about to spend that much. Just wondering how much trouble the fast key system is going to give me.

haha
not really a trouble !
#1 go to walmart, and they can make a copy of your key in your fastkey
#2 remove the black cap in your car. The back cap to start the car
#3 install the remote starter with the mitsu control. you need a box to "learn" your car ID : the box is 35-45$ + the remote starter (BYPASS KIT)
#4 start the car with the remote starer
#5 use your copy of your key and turn the ignition to run
#6 READY TO GO !
RESUME : remote starter : ~125-200$
bypasse kit : MAX 50$
copy key : 5$
installation : 1.3 - 2h MAX !!!!

elerico's setup would work, just make sure whatever transponder you get can "learn" your key, otherwise you will be sacrificing the entire fastkey.
I personally would get a CAN Bus data interface, and a transponder that would "learn" the key. This would also allow an aftermarket remote start system to better integrate into the rest of the car. (door triggers, locks, tach, etc). If you are getting a full blown security/remote start system, this makes installation a heck of a lot easier.
