Bluetooth module purchase - CANADA
Hi - I've just purchased a 2010 Outlander ES (4WD).
It's pre-wired but doesn't have the bluetooth module / microphone installed...
Where's the best place to purchase these (ideally within Canada) also I've found install instructions for a 2008 Outlander but not a 2010, are they the same?
The dealer wants $330 for the module + $200 for fitting, I understand that I'll still need to get the dealer to program.
Thanks in advance.

Its a bit tricky for Canada for 2010, since it did not have the FUSE system. The FUSE system is part of the bluetooth module, so I can't really say for certain if it uses the new one with a USB port made by JCI or the old one used from 2007 to 2010 (until 2009 in the US). Ask your dealer for the part number, thats probably the easiest way to be 100% sure.
Yes the installation is pretty much exactly the same for the FUSE vs non-FUSE bluetooth module. I am not sure if you need programming for it to work, but you can try without it first to save yourself about $100.

I was wondering the same thing about my hands-free option. I have a 2011 Outlander ES FWD with the FUSE wired but not installed. My wife and I are infrequent cell phone users, but I am thinking that having a hands-free option might be good in case of emergency. Apparently, I can get a Bluetooth-enabled device for $40 - 100 at various electronics stores (esp. one that can accommodate both our phones). Any recommendations from you all on this front?

If she wants to listen to iPod or music from another USB device, then spending about $300 on the module and installing it yourself is probably the best value. You will never integrate a 3rd party bluetooth system properly unless its part of an aftermarket stereo.
