Just been on a short trip from Oslo to Brussels and back with my new Outie - driving through Germany is sheer joy!
First off, the navi is indeed a great tool - I felt I knew the roads even better then the locals, always ending up in the desired location without any hassle! Love it!
However, I got more than a little annoyed with the rear view mirror. Up to 80-90 km/h it's OK. Above 100-120 km/h it's pretty annoying, the vibration makes the image smudged and blurry, not easy to tell what's back there. At 170 km/h I didn't even bother looking anymore :-)

Sooo - what options do I have? Would a swap for a different mirror make any difference? I tried to feel with my fingertips around the mirror and the base, seems to me the vibration starts at the arm, couldn't feel any notable vibration at the base.
Anybody else had this?


BTW - this is with the 2.0 litre VAG diesel, manual shift.

I think you need to get glasses with Optical Image Stabilization

 

Are your wheels not balanced properly? That would cause an increasing vibration as speed increases.

 

ironically, I noticed same thing yesterday when I was drivingover alittle lane seperator bumps

 

I don't think that's the problem, although it could be the case. I used to drive a Volvo V70 and never had anything like this - even with improperly balanced wheels.

I am assuming it would happen with any other car going over little lane separator bumps. Btw as a comparison I was driving 2006 Taurus and rear mirror was very unstable with blury image evenon the smooth road.
