Default Brake Lights Working But Dim

Hi, new to the forum, found it while trying to find cure for above issue. Someone stopped me at traffic lights to say my brake lights weren't working.

My brake lights are working but are dim, I've change 15a fuse even though I checked it was ok and no difference.

There's no discernable difference between them & the running lights apart from the high level brake light also comes on when brake pressed.

It makes no difference to the brightness whether running lights are on or not.

Difficult to tell in daylight but the running lights might also be dimmer than usual.

I've checked that both number plate lights are working ok.

It's a 2008 Elegance
