Default CEL help!!

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forums but haven't had a real need to post anything until now. I'll give you a quick summary of my issue; my 2010 Outlander had a cracked engine block so a new engine was installed. I've had the replacement engine for a few months but I've had a few issues ever since.

I have the "Torque" app on my Android phone which allowed me to read these CEL codes: P0171 and P2195. The P2195 comes and goes every few hundred KMs although I think P0171 is a pending code that never turns on the actual CEL.

Here are some other symptoms to add detail to the issue: within a few minutes of driving, when sitting idle, the RPM needle will bounce. Sometimes it's a very minor bounce but occasionally it's pretty rough.

Noise wise, the engine sounds OK. I don't notice any air leak related noise but I suppose that could be the problem.

I've taken it back to the mechanic who installed the engine and he's insisted that their connections are all tight and that it's probably a bad O2 sensor. I doubt that since the O2 sensor was working properly before the new engine. Perhaps the MAF is dirty or a leak is occurring somewhere? Not sure what to do, I want to go back to the mechanic but not sure what to tell him!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Chris

Is it possible for an O2 sensor to just become bad after a new engine was installed? Or is this merely coincidence?

I should mention that I've noticed no change in fuel economy at all... Is poor fuel economy usually an indicator of a bad O2 sensor?
