Clicking while ignition in on posistion
I've recently purchased a 2009 outlander, when I turn the ignition to the on position (not start position) i get a succession of 6 or 7 quick clicks coming from the engine bay followed by 4 or so not as loud clicks. Vehicle starts fine, just wondering what this might be. Also there seems to be a not so loud rpm related whine coming from the engine area as well. Alternator maybe?

Clicks
Those are totally normal. Mine has done that ever since it was new. It's just different systems testing themselves and checking values.
What kind of whining? From where? Have you done a good visual inspection of the belts? Have you check the P/S fluid level (don't just shine a flashlight on it, open the top and peer in while shining the flashlight - why you ask? on mine the fluid had left a ring of dirt around the top and was a wee bit low, so from the outside the ring of dirt made it look full, but it needed a 1/2 pint or so)
