Clock spring ribbon.
Hi All,
In need of a little advice.
SRS light was on so i went for a little investigating. this is what i found.

This is the damage to the ribbon cable on the clock spring.
Local dealer wants half a pint of blood ontop foe 3 limbs and a lung.
Any one knows where i can get new ribbon, what its called or can i put a solder blob on it.
thanks for any advice you can offer guys.
Im in the UK so its a little hard to get information
All the best.
Phil.

the damage is right in the middle of the ribbon, right where it sits on the roller so i think it will wear out to quick. great thought though.
i have just run a continuity test and 3 out of 5 are damaged. only 3 are used out of the 5 so a bit of a bummer.
for now im going to resemble so i have the horn working and then try and find a recon part.

you may be able to measure the pitch of the cable and, if it has removable ends, replace with something similar.

The ribbon is part of the clock spring. It is part number 8619A018 I believe. You can Google it for an image to compare to make sure (or ask the dealer). I think you can get it for $60 on eBay (but it says 2010+ Outlander for some reason, but I think all current Mitsu cars use this).
See here:

Turns out its the lancer one as well. Only one on ebay. $129
I found a replacement one called "CSP151 Clock Spring" for $50 which claims to work as well. The clock spring, like the majority of Mitsubishi parts, are shared between many cars. So there is probably quite a few choices out there. Again, just double check before buying.
thanks for all the replies
