Outlander w/o the V6 would be the SE or SEL. Both are CVT so no real shift patterns or sport mode.
I have 2016 SEL and love it. Sits high enough and feels bigger than it is. Have had many ask me about it as they are unfamiliar and love the looks

I liked the V6 however with the deal I got on my SEL I would have had to spend another $10,000 to get a GT V6 with terrible gas mileage and insufficient power. I am getting an avg. 24 mpg now and really this CUV is for my wife mostly, My DD is a Corvette.

My SEL has a sport mode which gives it a little more pep and less gas mileage. When you put the truck in -D- push the shifter to the right and there is the S for sport mode.

Did you consider the Sport GT or any other make before settling on the SEL?

Yes I did. Considering all of the options that come std. on the SEL and me liking Mitsubishi to begin with from past exp. Also the gas mileage. I drove the following vehicles.
Also......... 5 Year 60,000 mile Warranty which no one else besides Hyundai has.

Sport...... way too small
Jeep Cherokee.........way over priced
Mazda CX5 more $$$ did not like the ride
Rav4 way too much $$$
CRV way too much $$$ and appeared smaller.
Chevy Equinox and Traverse way way overpriced, 4 cyl. was terrible (I could buy 2 SEL's)
Ford any car was $45,000 what a joke.
Dodge Way over priced, decent ride but more tha I wanted to spend.
Hyundai Tuscon too small and cost more
Hyundai SanteFe Sport nice but much more money. Is this enough or should I hit the cars from the EU?

That is quite a list, thank you. I agree with your assessment of the GM products: the corporate 2.4 cyl. is lethargic and the interior design and quality can't compare to the Mitsubishi. If you have any other impressions of the Outlander, particularly regarding performance, please share them.

Could not resist. Here is the best mpg I got from my 7-mile commute with no highway and no traffic.

I think the 4 cylinder may be the way to go(perhaps with the RRM timing controller and aluminum crank pulley to liven things up.) Guxu, are you satisfied with the performance of the 4 cylinder in varied conditions?
I do not have any problem with my SE on highway. The only thing is I have to pay attention to the speed. I do not know if it is because of the quietness of the cabin or the sensitivity of the gas pedal, but it is very easy to drive too fast. The first couple times I was on highway, I was driving at 90 mph without even realizing it.

No complain on local roads either. Only once, I seemed to notice the lack of power when 5 adult males were in my Outlander including a big guy.
