Default Covering the TPMS light-done.

I thought I would have a go at covering the TPMS light so when winter hits and I mount my tires, it's one less thing to do.

Step 1 - remove both vent outlets on either side of the display. They are just in place using tabs and pull right out.

Step 2 - Remove two screws and three lock tabs on lower part of the dash

Step 3 - remove single screw holding upper dash in place from behind left vent outlet.

Step 4 - remove upper dash piece by pulling towards the steering wheel. Tabs are marked. One connector needs to be disconnected

Step 5 - remove three screws holding display in place and remove single connector on rear.

Step 6 - remove the plastic cover on the front faces of the display. There are a number of tabs that allow the front to pop off.Green circles are the tabs, red circle is the indicator. Then use a small piece of black tape and cover the indicator. Replace the parts as you found them.

It was pretty easy to do and the tape is pretty much invisible. No flashy light for me. Now if I understand correctly, I'll just have to press the reset button every time I start the car to remove the warning message.

Or you could have taken the bulb out.

did you wear latex/hospital gloves to make sure their no finger print marks left behind?

Finger printswill show up on a bright sunny days on the inside if not.

Great write up. But still, all that trouble for a bulb? But I appreciate the write-up and pics though, just in case I needed to dig the dash for something else.

There is no bulb. All lighting on that panel is done with surface mount LEDs soldered to the main board. To get to them you need to remove the needles on the speedo and tach, then remove the needle controllers and then attempt to remove the board, then desolder the LEDs using a specific soldering system like this:

Trust me, it's much easier to cover the TPMS display with a bit of black tape. As far as fingerprints go, unless you get them on the inside of the clear display cover, you can't see them anyway...it's not that delicate.

Almost seems easier to just get the sensors in the new tires.
