Crank Position Sensor (Or Crank Angle Sensor)
My Outlander broke it's timing belt last year. I pulled the heads and had a machine shop replaced 2 bent valves. Reassembled the engine with a new timing belt, new coil packs, new plugs new fuel pump, new oxygen sensor, etc. It will start and run for about 2 seconds then act like the key was turned off.
I paid a 'Ask a Mitsubishi Mechanic' fee to ask about what it might be. After using a noid light he said it was probably the CPS or Crank Position Sensor, pay me, please.
I was satisfied with his answer and paid him. I have now been trying to find the CPS, it does not seem to be anywhere! I can find it for the 2.4L engine, but I have the 3.0L V6 (2007). I've been looking and looking, I can see lots of sensors, but none seem to be the CPS.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Le@r - Thank you Very Much! Fortunately, with ccernst's help I found the sensor.
Removed it last week, didn't test it but it has a strange bubble in the plastic near the bottom. Just received the new one and will be installing it this WE.
The picture is a bit off. The half-shaft (not shown in the drawing) is almost directly on top of the sensor.
I'll keep you posted.

anyway, even if you gave up on this issue, heres a super sweet FREE site for car service manuals of all types... https://charm.li/ and make sure you do some RESEARCH before you click on ANY links in an email or forum, even mine while i warn you of it
gotta take the belt off, the tensioner, the crankshaft pulley, an idler to the top right of that pulley, and another idler hiding behind the inner fender wall which was a HUGE PAIN to get the bolts out until i learned theres a little rubber grommet you can remove on the inner fender and have EASY access!!!! after all those are removed, you remove all the bolts for the timing cover, and at the bottom right, next to the crankshaft timing pulley, the CPS is mounted there... ALSO a pain to replace cuz the wire is tucked inside behind the power steering pump and air conditioner compressor brackets...UGH
2003 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L (FWD) crank position sensor location
i think he's got a bad ground, it kills the sensor, the timing changes, and i gotta replace and retime it again.... this is the 3RD time!!!!!!
