Unexplained noise while driving
2010 Mitsubishi Outlander ES 2.4L CVT
Hey peeps, I've go an issue that's been ongoing for over a year and I can't figure it out. When I take off, I feel what I would describe as a shudder/wobble. This occurs up until about 15mph but not every time. What does occur every time is the noise when I'm driving.
When I reach about 40mph, I feel a light vibration under my foot on the driver's side. This coincides with a sound that mimics the vibration. It's almost rotational but I can't say 100%. The thing that stands out the most is once I reach 40mph, if I take my foot off of the accelerator, it 'almost' fades away. The lighter I press the accelerator, the louder the noise. It happens between 40-45mph and 55-70mph but is beginning to be noticeable anytime I only lightly press the accelerator between 40-70+ mph. When I press harder, it doesn't entirely go away but it's very faint.
I changed the driver's side wheel bearing the other day because it felt like it had a little catch. It showed signs of wear but wasn't totally worn. The sound I'm talking about didn't really changed that much.
One other thing that I can't say for sure I'm really hearing is that it seems when I go over a smooth dip in the road that for that few seconds the sounds fades a little.
Below is a list of parts I changed over the last year to try and rule them out but also because some were worn out.
-Control arms and ball joints
-outer tie rod ends
-front struts and mounts
-sway bar bushings
-passenger CV axle has less than 15000 miles on it.
-driver's side CV axle has less than 10000 miles on it
-CVT fluid has about 10000 miles on it. I use Diaqueen J4 CVT fluid
-tires only have about 15000 miles on them. Yokohama Geolander CV g058. Rotated and balanced twice
-front end alignment twice
Update: I wanted to test a theory out while I was driving in the rain and see if I could hear the noise louder. While driving on a straight road, I slightly swerved left and right in the rain and I THINK the noise did get louder while I was holding the steering wheel in both of those directions. I can't say for sure because of the road noise of the rain but it is possible. I did it at a safe speed. Don't know if those details will help but sounds drivetrain related and not transmission, hopefully.
Any help is appreciated.
