I believe if the Outlander never had an inspection on record for the recall you might be able to have Mitsubishi repair it under recall warranty. I changed mine a month ago and it was a lot of work. It was well worth it in my opinion since my Outlander is in mint condition with 80,000 miles on it.

 

I had outlander 2007 xls, and have the exact same issue, just wondering how you did yours, still under the recall. I contacted Mitsubishi customer care, and they told me my the recall was completed 2016, and I'm sure I didn't get any notification about it. The only recalls I got are the sunroof, and wiper motor/link in 2018, and they are not completed yet and still active. How come the cross-member is completed if my recall is not completed. It makes no sense.
