I was able to trace where the wire goes after it comes out of the MMCS, I will have pictures up soon, but after it comes out of the MMCS, all the wires trace over to the left side connector {the three connectors which are attached to the adapter that holds the MMCS, right before it goes into the next harness}, after the wires reach there, they terminate, I used a multimeter to find the correct routing of wires, I will have the exact pins that they land at soon.

So instead of cutting these wires, would it be better to just splice the camera cable's wires into these?

there is now a wire harness whichs plugs into the back of the mmcs and will run directly to the camera. check this link

Thats brilliant (the wiring loom i mean!) - can this then be used with the Pioneer camera that is being recommended, or does it mean you have to get the official Mitsi one that is listed? (indeed, is the official one any good?)

I haven't installed one yet, but I remember reading in this post that it does it all by itself and immediately when it is put into reverse (e.g., don't have to wait for the initialization screen to go away).
I hope to install a camera soon. I was thinking about getting the Kenwood camera since it got good reviews for nighttime illumination and the Pioneer didn't.
